Boomer meets Johnny, paw up - Boomer's original name was also Johnny when he was adopted from the pound! TV Acres' Terrier Section says:

"The program was originally slated to be called HERE'S JOHNNY (to reflect the dog's real name), but complications with NBC and the Johnny Carson connection made them change the name."
